Convert to Empirical Formula

Location: Edit Menu

Choose convert to empirical formula to convert the current formula to its empirical formula, showing the number of carbon atoms first, then hydrogen, then the remaining atoms alphabetically. For example, FeCl₃-6H₂O would convert to H₁₂Cl₃FeO₆ and HOC₆H₄Cl would convert to C₆H₅ClO.

A confirmation dialog box will appear if "Exit on Escape with confirmation" or "Ignore escape key but confirm exit" is checked in Exit Program Options under the Options menu, otherwise, the command is instantaneous and cannot be undone.
